Bongani Fassie and Fifi Cooper will release their new song titled Jehovah. n an interview with TshisaLive, Bongani Fassie, also known as Bongz in music circles, revealed how the collaboration with Fifi Cooper came about. “The vibe just felt right, and it was an opportunity to work with people who shared that same passion for uplifting souls,” he said. He also disclosed what listeners can expect from the collaboration which he described as “a song that speaks to the heart.”

The talented musician, producer and DJ ventured into the industry, when he, Thandukwazi Sikhosana “Demor” and Nkosinathi Maphumulo “Black Coffee” started a group called Shana. He rose to fame when he released his solo album ‘Afro Rawmantic’ in 2011. The album fuses hardcore dance beats with soulful, sensual singing. The album also includes collaborations with a multitude of artists including DJ Euphonik , Black Coffee and Demor.

The storied career of theatremaker Sandy Rudd is set to ignite the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) when the celebrated theatre doyen turns 70 years old in May. Titled ‘40 Years of Fabulous: A Retrospective of 40 Years of Theatre with Sandy Rudd’, the production was recently pitched to a roomful of theatremakers who have worked with Rudd across 161 productions spanning a variety of genres. Employing the idea of “looking back to see what we can do in the future”, ‘40 Years of Fabulous’ invites alumni of Rudd’s work in musicals, tribute shows, children’s theatre, special needs theatre, comedy, community theatre, Independence Day shows and College of the Arts Theatre School performances to sign up to be a part of the production.

Kigali is set to celebrate World Poetry Day with the introduction of a special slam poetry workshop, providing poets and aspiring writers with a platform to enhance their skills and showcase their talents. Organised by Umut Arts, a local performing arts company, in collaboration with Institut Français du Rwanda, the celebration will culminate in ‘Soirée Poésie: Mu Rwanda rw’Ubusizi’ on March 20, featuring diverse performances by Rwandan poets and discussions on the country’s evolving poetry scene. Dan Lufani, a “boma ndi lomweli” musician, was arrested on Tuesday 11 March 2025 by the police after an incident in which he was allegedly involved in a confrontation with officials from the Lilongwe Water Board in Area 49. The altercation occurred when Lufani, who had reportedly not paid his water bill amounting to K250,000.00, attempted to cut off the water supply. Upon arriving to disconnect the water, Dan allegedly became aggressive and started causing a scene, leading to a physical confrontation.

The producers of the movie Gangs of Lagos and Amazon Prime have apologised to the Isale Eko Descendants Union over the film’s depiction of the Isale Eko community and the revered Eyo masquerade. This comes nearly two years after the union filed a lawsuit challenging the portrayal of their cultural heritage in the movie. In April 2023, PREMIUM TIMES reported that Isale Eko union and the Lagos government condemned the portrayal of Eyo Masquerade. In one of the scenes of ‘Gangs of Lagos’, the movie portrays assassins operating under the cover of Eyo masquerades. In a statement on Wednesday, Adeniji Kazeem, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Chairman of the Isale-Eko Descendants Union, confirmed that the parties have settled.

The producers of the Nollywood epic film Labake Olododo: The Warrior Lord have said it will hit cinemas nationwide on 28 March. Ace Nollywood actress and Chief Executive Officer of Fespris Production, Iyabo Ojo, announced the release date of the highly anticipated film on her Instagram page, alongside its official trailer. She wrote: “Excited to finally share this masterpiece with you all. Labake Olododo, directed by the brilliant Biodun Stephen, is a powerful story filled with action, culture, and deep emotions.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the blockbuster is a joint production by Fespris Production, FilmOne Studios, Abazee Productions, and Alaba Ultimate.

Yunan, premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale13-23 February), where it competed for and won the festival’s highest awards, the Silver Bear and the Golden Bear. Yunan is directed by Fakher Eldin, a writer and filmmaker born in Kyiv in 1991 to Syrian parents from the occupied Golan Heights and is currently based in Hamburg. The film tells the story of Munir, an Arab poet journeying to a remote island to end his life, haunted by his past and trapped within his imagination, accompanied only by an old story told by his mother. However, Munir encounters the enigmatic Valeska and her rough, loyal son Karl on the island. Their simple acts of kindness help him overcome his pains and reawaken his desire to live.

Set in the 1930s during the British occupation, “El Nos” unfolds in a comedic framework. Ahmed Amin plays a skilled pickpocket who decides to repent and renounce theft.
