A new trailer from Egyptian actress Riham Hagag's star-studded TV series "Tawaba" has been released. The cast also includes Anoushka, Asma Abulyazeid, Hany Adel, Mohamed Alaa, and more. The drama consists of 15 episodes and reunites Hagag with the director of the 2025 TV series “Athena," Yahya Ismail. Ismail directs the series from a script by Ayman Salama. Apple Media Production is the banner behind the project. "Tawaba" is set to screen on the "CBC" satellite TV channel and "Watch It" VOD during the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon.

Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan franchise) and Michael Rooker (Guardians Of The Galaxy) have signed on to star in the possession thriller "Izzi". Fuhrman is to star in a dual role in the film, whose synopsis reads: “After years of separation, Jenny returns home to discover that her twin sister Izzi has been possessed by a malevolent force and has disappeared into the surrounding woods. As a long-buried generational curse resurfaces, Jenny joins forces with her father John and local sheriff Blackstone (Rooker) to venture into the cursed forest in a desperate attempt to save her sister.” The pic will be directed by twin brothers Jamie Neese and Jason Neese, who previously served as co-executive producers on Netflix hit "The Umbrella Academy". Daniel Baur’s K5 International has boarded worldwide sales on the film and is introducing it to buyers at this week’s European Film Market. Principal photography is scheduled for fall 2026.

Yasmine Ahmed Kamel directs from a script she co-wrote with Marian Hani. The series consists of 15 episodes and is produced by Synergy. Dua Lipa scored a legal victory in a copyright lawsuit over her 2020 smash hit “Levitating” after a judge dismissed the case. Lipa was initially hit with a pair of “Levitating” copyright lawsuits in March 2022, one from Florida reggae group named Artikal Sound System that was dismissed in June 2023, and another from L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer. Judge Katherine Polk Failla dismissed the latter in New York court on Monday, explaining that the commonalities between songs were not protectable under copyright law. In their initial suit, Brown and Linzer accused Lipa of copying both their 1979 song “Wiggle and Giggle All Night” and 1980 song “Don Diablo,” two tracks dating from the disco era. They stated that the opening melody of “Levitating” was a “duplicate” of the melody to their songs and claimed that Lipa herself had “admitted that she deliberately emulated prior eras” in the press and “took inspiration” to create a “retro” sound.

The Palestinian co-director of Oscar-winning film “No Other Land” Hamdan Ballal was beaten up by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, taken away by Israeli soldiers and detained overnight, according to his family, friends, colleagues, eyewitnesses and lawyer. On Tuesday afternoon, following his release from detention, Ballal’s lawyer Leah Tzemel said that he had been “arbitrarily” held in police detention in Kiryat Arba’a, an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank, and that he had been beaten in custody by Israeli soldiers. Following his release, he was moved to a hospital in Hebron, where he was treated for his injuries, according to his brother, Nimer. Despite suffering from dehydration and bruising, Ballal left the hospital, his co-director Basel Adra told CNN. He has now returned home to his family in Susya in the occupied West Bank, his brother said.

The fourth Hollywood Arab Film Festival (HAFF), celebrating Arab Heritage Month from 9 to 13 April at Hollywood Universal Studio Cinema in California, will feature multiple Egyptian films, including Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo and The Tale of Daye’s Family. George Clooney spoke with 60 Minutes about the upcoming Broadway adaptation of his 2005 Oscar-nominated movie, "Good Night, and Good Luck". In the play, Clooney, 63, portrays newsman Edward R. Murrow, a role he said he was not ready to play when he directed the movie in 2005. “Murrow had a gravitas to him that at 42 years old I didn’t — I wasn’t able to pull off,” he said. The flip side of that, said Clooney, is that there are roles he once played for which he’s now no longer a fit. The "Ocean’s Eleven" star used to be one of the most sought-after screen heartthrobs, starring as the romantic lead in films such as "One Fine Day", "Intolerable Cruelty", and "Out of Sight".

The third installment in the Egyptian actor Ahmed El Sakka-lead "Al Jazeera" (The Island) franchise got an upsetting update regarding its release date. Released in 2007, the first film follows Mansour taking charge as the leader of a drug cartel in Upper Egypt and setting his own rules after the death of his father, but the unresponsive government of the land soon springs into action against him. The second entry was released in 2014 and sees Mansour al Hanafi escape prison to the island after the January 25 Revolution, only to find Sheikh Khaled emerged changing the balance of power. The cast also stars the likes of Hend Sabry, the late Khaled Saleh, Khaled El Sawy, Nidal Al-Shafi’i, Arwa Gouda, Ahmed Malek, Samy Maghawry, Mohamed El Tagy, and more.
