In a significant boost for local visual artists aspiring for international recognition, Harare is preparing to host Zimbabwe’s inaugural art fair, the Cheuka Art Fair (CHAF25), later this month. The event will take place from February 27 to March 1 at the Andy Miller Hall, Harare Exhibition Park. Curated by Laura Ganda, the fair is the brainchild of Wallen Mapondera, Admire Kamudzengere, and Merilyn Mushakwe. The quartet will be joined by other talented visual artists, including Gareth Nyandoro, Mostaff Muchawaya, Kressiar Mukwazhi, Gideon Gomo, Victor Nyakauru, and Nothando Chiwanga, who will participate in group discussions. As the first event of its kind in Zimbabwe, CHAF25 will bring together galleries, artists, and international collectors to buy, sell, and showcase a diverse array of artworks.
As one way of improving service delivery to its customer base, Azam TV has introduced door-to-door service for all subscribers across the country. Speaking during the launch of the service on Friday at Azam TV offices in Blantyre, General Manager Syed M Kadayhe said this will help customers easily access services from technicians who will be moving around. “We noted that our subscribers were finding it very difficult to access services from us whenever they had problems with their receivers, hence the reason why we have introduced these door-to-door free services. “Our customers will now be able to reach out to us through our social media platforms. What they need to do is just book an appointment by sharing their details so that our technicians can reach out to them,” he said.
Producers of Apongozi, a Malawian leading Television (TV) Series, HD Plus Creations say the movie is multilingual as one way to penetrating international market, including African nations that widely communicate in English. During his live broadcast on TikTok Nobat Events, the promoter behind the concert revealed that Ray G was doing everything to see that the show flops by encouraging people not to attend.
