Hlengiwe Lushaba-Madlala Sings MaMchunu’s Praises As She Bows Out of My Brother’s Keeper. MaMchunu’s passing has come as a shock to many fans of My Brother’s Keeper. In the past couple of episodes, she went through trying times, and this took a toll on her health. Her fans have joined the Shabalala family to mourn their beloved matriarch. We got introduced to MaMchunu back in October 2023, when the telenovela premiered on Mzansi Magic. From the get go, she did everything in her power to protect the Shabalalas. Sometimes though, some of the family members did her wrong, and MaMchunu cut them off. She even went as far as leaving her marriage home, after a hectic fight with her husband, Mshengu Shabalala, played by the veteran Lindani Nkosi. Of recent, MaMchunu wanted nothing to do with one of her sons Nqubeko. This came after it was recently revealed that he is the one behind Thuthuka’s untimely death.

On January 18, 2025, the movie industry held one of its much-anticipated movie awards in the country. However, the event was overshadowed by it's aftermath. During the awards ceremony, celebrated Ghanaian blogger, ZionFelix, was awarded Blogger of the Year. However, some netizens have taken to social media and mocked the organisers of the awards for giving the blogger a locally-designed fan made out of palm fronds as an award plaque. According to them, the organisers could have done better with their choice of plaque.

The management of Ghanaian singer and rapper King Paluta has expressed disappointment over the exclusion of his hit song Makoma from four nomination categories at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs). In a statement dated March 18, the team revealed that Makoma was submitted for Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. However, it was not considered in any of these categories. “We humbly write to your honorable board to demand explanations regarding the snub of Makoma by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration. We believe it remains Ghana’s most popular song released during the year under review, generating immense excitement among music lovers to date.

Nigerian singer, Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, has thrown shade at music executive, Ubi Franklin, as he shows off his material blessings from God. Naija News reported that the ‘Who’s Your Guy’ crooner, during an interview on ‘The Link Up’ podcast, accused Ubi of Using Davido to scam him. He claimed that Franklin refused to pay him after the event despite agreeing to pay him $5,000 for the performance. Responding to Spyro’s allegations, Franklin claimed he withheld the money because the singer also owed him some money. The music executive claimed that Spyro was supposed to pay him 10 percent for facilitating his recent car purchase. He said he withheld the $5,000 as part of his payment from the car deal, stressing that the singer still owes him ₦2 million.
Notable gospel singer Ebuka Songs has addressed the viral interview where fellow gospel artist Moses Bliss disclosed that he left his record label before his three-year contract ended. Moses Bliss had previously shared in an interview that Ebuka Songs departed his label after just 11 months, despite signing a longer contract. Reacting to the revelation, Ebuka Songs admitted that he was not entirely happy with some statements made in the interview. He felt that certain details shared were unnecessary. However, he clarified that both he and Moses Bliss had reached a compromise regarding their differences and have since moved on.
The late artist Mustafa Al-Shater, one of the founders of the Aznzarne Group, was buried yesterday, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in the city of Inzegane, on the outskirts of Agadir. The late artist passed away on the morning of the same day after a long artistic career that started with the Laqdam group and other musical groups, then the Aznzaran group. He was one of the most prominent players of the Kabir on the santur and had a melodious voice. The late artist suffered from heart disease for years and was confined to bed until his death.
