On January 2, 2024, Darkoo released a new single titled 'Focus On Me (All the sexy girls in the club)'. On the vibrant single which went viral on TikTok before its release, she sampled P-Square's hit record 'Gimme Dat' off their 2009 album 'Danger'. The music video inspired by P-Square's video for 'Gimme Dat' was released days later before it was taken down over copyright infringements. According to Darkoo in a post on her X account on January 11, 2025, the music video was taken down by Peter AKA Mr. P who is one half of the legendary P-Square group. Darkoo claimed that the 45-year-old music icon was acting out of spite because failed to accede to his request to be featured on the single. She said that despite promising to make him a part of the remix, Peter refused to be appeased. In a series of posts, Darkoo claimed that she cleared the sample and even conceded 50 percent of the royalties to P-Square out of respect for their work and status.

Ahead of his new album, OdumoduBlvck released the rap record 'Not All That' while also going on a collaborative streak that includes being featured by Davido on his chart-topping record 'Funds'. OdumoduBlvck recently released the joint project 'Nothing Change' with his crew Antiworld Gangsters which sees him kick off the year on a strong note. With his upcoming album, the rapper will be aiming to improve on the record of his 2023 project 'Eziokwu' which is one of the most successful rap albums in the streaming era of Nigerian music.
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the presiding judge granted the order after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an ex parte motion for his arrest. Bilikisu Buhari, representing the EFCC in court, cited legal provisions under Section 35(1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, to support the application. The EFCC stated that they received a petition from the singer against her former manager after she accused him of receiving royalties from her digital platforms and events without informing her of the transactions. They also stated that the manager allegedly diverted about $345,000 without allocating the singer her share of the funds. They added that if the manager cannot be apprehended, the EFCC would resort to a public summons to declare him wanted. The court has adjourned the case until January 24 for arraignment of the manager.

Generations: The Legacy actress Refilwe Madumo paid tribute to Manaka Ranaka's daughter, Katlego Ranaka on Monday, 3 February. The legendary actress' daughter passed away on Thursday, 23 January at 24 years, and was buried on Saturday, 1 February. Daily Sun reveals that Generations: The Legacy actress Refilwe Madumo also attended Manaka's daughter's funeral, to support her co-star. Madumo praised Manaka for allowing her daughter to live her life freely and comforted her.

Fighting back tears, Artiste Maame recounted how she had to rent an apartment near the hospital to ensure she could be there to care for him. She mentioned that the nurses had to prevent her from going to the physiotherapy centre because she would cry each time she saw her son trying to remain strong and recover.
