Renowned sculptor Dominic Benhura has hinted at major exhibitions in which he is set to participate. The sculptor, who is celebrating nearly 46 years in the industry, revealed in an interview that sculpting is his lifestyle, emphasising that creativity is essential for remaining relevant and dominant in the field. “Sculpting is an integral part of my life. It has been my hobby since I was 10 years old when I began working with a chisel, hammer, and stone. “I enjoy it abundantly, day in and day out. I have been in the industry since 1979,” he said. Surprisingly, despite his global dominance, the talented sculptor expressed a desire to stage a show locally. “I would like to do a solo show at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe if the opportunity arises like I used to do years ago. “My last local show was at Amanzi Restaurant in 2019.” “I have been very busy year after year. I consistently post updates about my activities on social media.
Musician Grenade Official’s concert that was supposed to happen on Saturday at Cricket Oval has been postponed. According to a document from the organisers, Mosh Events, the decision to defer the show was made after extensive consultations with key stakeholders and the artiste’s management team. “The organisers of the highly anticipated concert, featuring the sensational artist Grenade Official wish to inform the public and all stakeholders of a change in the event date. Originally scheduled for February 15, 2025, the concert new dates will be communicated at later stages,” reads part of the statement. The state further reveals that the rescheduling ensures optimal alignment with Grenade Official’s availability, allows for enhanced event planning and guarantees a world-class experience for all attendees.
GHANAIAN Reggae artiste Ras Kuuku has criticised organisers of the annual Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for restricting the Gospel Song of the Year category to only gospel artistes. To him, what defines a gospel song is not the artiste performing it but rather the lyrics and message it conveys. According to the TGMA’s official criteria, “The Best Gospel Song is the song adjudged by the Academy, Board, and the General Public as the most popular Christian song, commercially released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most public excitement and enjoyed a lot of patronage from the general public. Only songs performed by Gospel artistes are eligible for this category.”
