Melody, the victoire in chansons

Melody, la victoire en chansons is particularly interesting from an African entertainment perspective because it combines Ivorian television drama, music, dance and the performing arts rather than treating music simply as background. TV5MONDE describes it as a musical comedy series celebrating Francophone African music and paying tribute to people working to preserve and develop African culture.

The strongest African connection is its Ivorian setting and production. The story is rooted in Abidjan, the characters are largely connected to Côte d'Ivoire, and the production involved Akwaba Films, SOL-PRODD Consulting and TV5MONDE.

Another distinctive feature is the amount of music. The production was designed around 12 original songs, alongside numerous well-known Francophone songs, with the actors themselves performing. TV5MONDE reported that the project contained around 60 songs in total.
