Efunroye (The Unicorn)

Efunroye: The Unicorn is a 2026 Nollywood historical epic centered on the complex life of 19th-century Yorubaland trader and political influencer, Madam Efunroye Tinubu. Produced by and starring Faithia Williams, this major film explores her rise from a local market trader to a powerful figure who resisted British rule, directed by a veteran team including Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami. The movie, featuring stars like Odunlade Adekola and Femi Adebayo, sparked debate over its heroic portrayal of a historical figure, which creators described as an artistic interpretation rather than a strict documentary.
