Maskal, Eli Njuchi deliver a new love anthem

Legendary Afro Pop/R&B singer Maskal has teamed up with contemporary singer-songwriter Eli Njuchi to dish out a sizzling love song titled “Chonchi”, which hit the airwaves on Valentine’s Day. The track has been produced, recorded, and mastered by Tricky Beatz, takes the two powerful vocalists on a phenomenon love journey that has them marvelling at their better halves. “M’tima chimwemwe, mtima wanga umagwidwa tsembwe, nthawi zonse ndikakhala nawe, I know that you’re my baby… Ukandigwira chonchi, ndimakonda ukandigwira chonchi… Ukandigwira chonchi, mtima wanga umakondwa…” sings Maskal in the song mostly delivered in Chichewa. “Sindifila lonely, you’re my happiness, ukandihoda chonchi, kundihaga chonchi, umandichotsa nkhawa… Nambewe usazasinthe iwe, Nambewe usandisiye…” goes the charming vocals of Eli Njuchi.

Recently, Mzansi Magic confirmed that another Musa Mseleku production Izingane zeSthembu will return to our screens for its third season on Sunday, 25 May 2025. The entertainment commentator Jabu Macdonald also posted about the exciting new season on his Twitter (X) page and captioned it: "Izingane Zes’thembu’ has been renewed for a third season. The new season premieres on 25 May 2025 on Mzansi Magic."

Rwanda’s Rita Ngarambe to Hold Traditional Wedding in Kigali

Rita Laurence Ngarambe, Rwanda’s representative at Miss Face of Humanity 2022 and the First Runner-Up in the global competition, has announced she is preparing for her wedding in Rwanda with her fiancé, Jordan Cahill. The couple, who have been together for six years, will celebrate their union with family and friends in Kigali. According to the wedding invitations, the traditional 'Gusaba & Gukwa' ceremony will take place on March 8, 2025, at Juru Park, Rebero in Kigali. The intimate celebration will bring together their loved ones for a special reception. Speaking to InyaRwanda, Ngarambe revealed that she and Jordan officially married in Canada on February 10, 2024, with both a civil and church wedding. She explained that they chose to hold the Rwandan cultural ceremony at home so their families, who couldn’t attend the Canada wedding, could be part of their journey.

Mohamed Sami Retires from Making TV Series

Egyptian scriptwriter-director Mohamed Sami has declared his intention to leave developing TV series behind. In a lengthy post on Facebook, Sami bid farewell to his fans and confirmed that his decision wasn't sudden, but one that he had been planning for some time, but he preferred to stick to his commitments until the end. "This year marks my last television project. I bid farewell to TV series," Sami wrote. "It has been a long journey of about 15 years, during which I gave everything I could to bring joy to the Arab audience." Sami is currently participating in the Ramadan 2025 drama marathon with his final projects: "Saeed El Nass" and "Ash Ash".

I’m Sylvie Simbi, a singer and songwriter born and raised in Rome, Italy, to Rwandan parents. Music has always been a part of me—whether singing in church, at school or listening to records at home. It’s been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I truly believe it was my calling. In 2011, I had the incredible opportunity to feature in an Italian song that topped the pop charts, followed by a tour where I experienced the thrill of performing before massive crowds.

Ameer Fakher Eldin’s YUNAN to world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival

The Berlin International Film Festival just announced that Ameer Fakher Eldin's eagerly anticipated drama YUNAN is set to hold its world premiere at the renowned German festival’s 75th edition (February 7th - 23rd), where it will be the only Arab film competing in its Main Competition lineup. The film tells the story of Munir, an author who seeks solitude on a remote island in order to contemplate a final act, only to find solace in the quiet presence of Valeska, whose compassion reignites in him a budding will to live. Speaking of the film, director Fakher Eldin states that it “began as a reflection on displacement, on the quiet spaces it creates within and around us… I wanted to explore what happens when the familiar falls away, when the sense of home, of belonging, is fractured, leaving us to navigate the silence that follows,” adding that the rhythm of his story is “submersion, loss, and return. What vanishes isn’t gone forever, but it doesn’t come back unchanged.”

Small frame, big dreams: Shaapopi crowned Miss Petite Global Namibia 2025

A Windhoek hotel hosted the much-anticipated Miss Petite Global Namibia 2025 pageant over the weekend, where Josephine Shaapopi (21) was crowned the winner. Shaapopi also took home the title of Miss Photogenic in a category solely voted for by photographers from MP Studios Namibia. The Miss Petite Global pageant aims to celebrate the diversity and talents of women under 168cm in height who may otherwise be excluded from modelling. In the keenly contested competition, Shaapopi, a fashion design student at the College of the Arts, impressed the judges and audience alike. “Being crowned Miss Petite Global Namibia 2025 is an empowering and surreal moment for me,” she says.
