Viviane Chidid

Viviane Chidid, born Victoria Catherine Chidid on September 29, 1973, in Mbour, Senegal, is a prominent Senegalese singer known as the queen of Mbalax. She began her musical career performing in hotels and became a backing vocalist for Youssou N'Dour's band, Super Étoile de Dakar, gaining recognition through her collaboration on the hit "Seven Seconds." Chidid released her first album, Entre Nous, in 1999, achieving significant success with the track "Sama Nene." Her style evolved to combine traditional mbalax with RnB and hip-hop influences, exemplified in her successful 2004 album Esprit, which became the best-selling hip-hop album in Senegal. Throughout her career, she has faced challenges, including a plagiarism lawsuit in 2002, but continued to thrive with her innovative musical approach and glamorous image.
