Myztro, born Tshiamiso Sekowe, is a prominent South African DJ and music producer celebrated for his contributions to the Amapiano genre, particularly the "quantum sound" style. He hails from Soshanguve, South Africa, and is the brother of renowned DJ Maphorisa. Myztro began his music career at 10, focusing on drums and piano in church, before transitioning to DJing in the mid-2010s. His rise occurred in the early 2020s, notably through collaborations with Felo Le Tee on tracks like "Dipatje tsa Felo" and the multi-platinum "66." His 2022 EP, 012 Nkwari, and hits such as "Tobetsa" and "Bhebha," feature collaborations with artists like Xduppy and ShaunMusiq. He received the Newcomer of the Year award at the 2023 South African Music Awards and continues to release music, with upcoming projects for 2024-2025, including Nkwari 3.0 and TSAKO PITORI.

Rapper Oladips disses Headies Awards over omissions in the rap categories

Following the recent unveiling of the nominations list for the 17th Headies Award, Oladips has released a diss track where he called out the Headies for omitting Indigenous rappers. On the diss record shared on his on February 17, Oladips paid homage to pioneer Indigenous Yoruba rappers who he said inspired him to rap in his native language. He tackles the Headies for their failure to nominate Indigenous rappers such as himself in the rap category. Oladips called the omissions another manifestation of the constant disrespect faced by Indigenous Yoruba rappers in the Nigerian music industry.
