Chourouk Chimy Sports Journalism Award Applications Open

Applications are now open for the inaugural Chourouk Chimy Encouragement Award for sports journalism, sponsored by the French-language newspaper Al-Ahram Hebdo. Two awards, valued at 15,000 and 10,000 Egyptian pounds respectively, will be presented annually on 22 May, the birth anniversary of journalist Chourouk Chimy. The awards recognise excellence in sports journalism during the preceding year and aim to support journalists in developing their skills and adapting to the evolving media landscape. The 2024 awards will consider work published in 2023. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must work for an Arab newspaper, magazine, or news website. Applicants must be 50 years old or younger. Applicants must be a member of a journalists’ union or a recognised training programme or be employed in a journalism role.
