Saha Gnawa
SAHA GNAWA is a contemporary band that fuses North African Gnawa music with New York City's jazz and contemporary sounds. Co-led by Maâlem Hassan Ben Jaafer, a master of traditional Gnawa, and drummer Daniel Freedman, the ensemble includes musicians like Amino Belyamani and Jason Lindner. They explore trance-like states through intuitive interplay and will release their self-titled debut album in Fall 2025 through Pique-nique Recordings. The band aims to provide an immersive experience while honoring the spiritual roots of the Gnawa tradition.
