
Nii Kwate Owoo, born 1944, is a Ghanaian academic and filmmaker known for his 35mm lensing. He studied direction, camera, and editing at the London Film School and Isleworth Polytechnic in London. Owoo's film was banned in Ghana in 1971 for being Anti-British, but gained worldwide acclaim when released on celluloid. He has also produced and directed other notable films, such as Ama: An African Voyage of Discovery, which broke box-office records in Accra and was screened in London's West End.
