Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has defended her senior colleague, Ngozi Ezeonu, amid the backlash over the viral video of her scolding braless upcoming actresses at a movie audition. Naija News reported that the movie star was one of the judges sitting at the audition table when two ladies wearing crop tops and leggings came for the audition. The veteran movie star blasted the girls for their outfits at the audition, which sparked controversy online. In a video via her Instagram page on Monday, Kate Henshaw slammed those criticizing Ngozi Ezeonu for scolding the girls. The thespian stated that an audition is an interview for a role, and people cannot just dress like they are on the street. She further listed some respectable people in the Nollywood industry to illustrate that it is not an ordinary profession, stressing that industry experts should be blamed for making entries easy. The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) announced the selection of acclaimed Egyptian critic Ahmed Shawky as president of the Critics Jury at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, which will be held in the German capital from February 13-23, 2025. The Berlin jury is the largest committee organized by the International Federation of Film Critics annually, as it includes 12 critics from around the world, each three of whom judge films in one of the festival’s sections. Shawky will participate in judging the films of the international competition in addition to chairing the jury in general.

The masterclass, themed “Casting for Film”, focused on building the capacity of filmmakers to select the right talent for their productions to meet the needs and requirements of content buyers. Participants also gained insights into key industry challenges, including the dangers of piracy, strategies for content monetization, and producing high-quality content suitable for platforms like Pearl Magic Prime, and Pearl Magic.
The African Music Week (AMW) Accra launch on December 27, 2024, at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), unveiled plans for the festival set to take place from December 15 to 20, 2025. The play "Ghazi Oued Yemas", adapted from the play "Pick Nick" by the Spanish writer Fernando Arbal, and prepared by the dramaturgical artist and playwright Abdelrahman Al-Zawi, one of the artistic figures in our southern regions, who contributed to the establishment of a theatrical nursery to localize professional theatrical practice, and give a new breath to theater in the desert, was directed by the artist Noureddine Touami.

Rwanda is set to open a fashion design and merchandising school in Kigali before the end of 2025. State Minister for Education, Claudette Irere, signed a letter of intent with Kent State University on January 22 during her visit to Ohio, United States, aiming for the partnership to establish the school. Yasmine Ahmed Kamel directs from a script she co-wrote with Marian Hani. The series consists of 15 episodes and is produced by Synergy.
