Maha Bahnassy

TV Presenter

Maha Bahnassy is an Egyptian TV and radio presenter known for her controversial comments regarding sexual assault cases made during President Al-Sisi’s inauguration in June 2014. Her statement, "The people are happy, they are having fun," while reporting on sexual harassment in Tahrir Square drew significant backlash and was deemed insensitive, leading to her suspension from Tahrir TV. Bahnassy later clarified that her remarks were meant to reflect the atmosphere of celebration, not the harassment itself. The channel apologized and replaced her on her weekly show. She is a Cairo University graduate and has also worked for CBC and NaghamFM.
