"Sister Act 3" Gets Script Update

As Whoopi Goldberg hit the Oscars red carpet 34 years after she won Best Supporting Actress for “Ghost,” she revealed that she has seen a finished script for “Sister Act 3.” “We’re hoping it’ll happen sometime this year,” Goldberg said at the Oscars red carpet in Hollywood earlier Sunday. But when asked what she thought about the script, Goldberg responded by saying: “It doesn’t matter what I think. It only matters if Disney wants to do it.” Goldberg starred in the first “Sister Act” back in 1992, which grossed $231 million on a $31 million budget. She returned for the sequel, “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit,” reprising her role as a former lounge singer in the witness protection program who is forced to hide out in a California convent. Ever since the successful first two comedies, people have speculated about a third. Variety reported back in 2020 that Goldberg was officially starring in a threequel, with Tyler Perry producing.
