Liberian-born Artist, Mvsoo, Wins Grammy Award

Liberian-born singer and songwriter Mvsoo (pronounced “Moos”) has achieved a significant milestone in his musical career by winning his first Grammy Award at the 2025 Grammy Awards. He was recognized for his role as a co-writer on Chris Brown’s track “Sensational,” which features Nigerian artists Davido and Lojay. The song was part of Chris Brown’s 11th studio album, “11:11,” released on October 20, 2023. “Sensational” was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, a testament to its blend of R&B and Afrobeat elements. The track competed against other notable songs, including “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake and Wizkid, “Higher” by Burna Boy, and “Love Me JeJe” by Tems. Ultimately, Tems secured the award for “Love Me JeJe.” Mvsoo, whose real name is Steve Morrison Chokpelle, has been making waves in the U.S. music scene.
