Le Barrage was filmed in Sudan around the Merowe Dam and tells the story of Maher, a brickmaker who secretly builds a mysterious mud structure in the desert while Sudan is experiencing political upheaval. The film premiered at Cannes 2022 in the Directors' Fortnight
