Eight days after gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi was arrested for allegedly murdering his ‘girlfriend,’ Salome Adaidu, his father has pleaded with the Nigerian government for leniency. I’m Sylvie Simbi, a singer and songwriter born and raised in Rome, Italy, to Rwandan parents. Music has always been a part of me—whether singing in church, at school or listening to records at home. It’s been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I truly believe it was my calling. In 2011, I had the incredible opportunity to feature in an Italian song that topped the pop charts, followed by a tour where I experienced the thrill of performing before massive crowds.

The 26th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Shorts (IIFF) (5 - 11 February) will honour veteran Egyptian filmmaker Ali El-Ghazouli,92, by showcasing several of his acclaimed films in a special segment titled “A Look At History.” El-Ghazouli studied Photography at the Faculty of Applied Arts, graduating in 1956 before contiuning his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts and also in Italy. Over an illustrious career that spanned decades, he established himself as one of the leading photographers and documentary directors in Egypt and the Arab World. Earlier in his journey, he focused on directing short social documentaries, whichfeatured regularly on Egyptian TV. Over the years, he branched out to direct feature documentaries. He is renowned for his documentary films, such as The Healer of Saint Catherine (1986), Twilight Fishing (1990), Mr Gaber (1993), and The Martyr and the Square (2012).
After being accused of defrauding an American of $21,000 and GH48,000 in June 2024, Christopher Nelson, popularly known as Mr. Logic, is now facing additional allegations of threats against his former artiste. Monica Spence, a Canadian musician signed to Mr. Logic’s record label, has accused him of defrauding her and threatening her life if she steps foot in Ghana. In a video circulating on social media, Monica Spence shared an audio recording in which Mr. Logic was allegedly heard issuing a threat to her. "Don't step foot in Ghana. If you do. ! I am telling you the truth," he allegedly said. These allegations come after Monica Spence claimed that Mr. Logic, who also served as her manager, defrauded her under the guise of promoting her music career.
