King Alfred Izonebi, an Ijaw highlife musician and Theatre Arts graduate, has emerged as a leading figure in Ijaw music following the deaths of renowned musicians. Recognized for his poignant songs such as ‘The Voice of King’ and ‘Delta Ijaw,’ Izonebi's music promotes societal values and progress. A protégé of the late King Dr. Robert Ebizimor, he was posthumously honored with the title of King Dr. Alfred Izonebi during a ceremony on July 30, 2023, acknowledging his respect for Ijaw traditions and contributions to music, reminiscent of past Ijaw greats. His performances have reinvigorated the Ijaw music scene, celebrating the legacy of earlier musicians.
