Weird MC Emcee/MC

Weird MC, born Adesola Adesimbo Idowu on July 9, 1970, is a Nigerian-British rapper and songwriter known for her blend of English and Yoruba lyrics. Hailing from Ogun State, Nigeria, she faced parental disapproval in her music career. Co-founding the hip-hop group Weirdos in her youth, she later pursued Law and Music Technology. Influenced by Fela Kuti and Queen Latifah, Weird MC gained recognition in the UK rap scene with her 1992 single "I Wanna Make You Jack/Let's Get Wet." Her debut album, *Simply Weird*, released in 1996, combined American hip hop and Afrobeat, though it achieved limited commercial success. She won the first AMEN award for Best Hip Hop Album. Her second album, *After Da Storm*, released in 2006, featured the hit "Ijoya" and further accolades. She has also collaborated with various artists and advocated for female rappers in Nigeria.
