Abanny: rising star shaping future of Nigerian music

Olatunji Gbolahan Sulaimon, professionally known as Abanny, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter making waves in the music industry. Born on January 17, 2000, in Ogun State and raised in Lagos, Abanny has developed a unique sound that blends Hip-hop, Afrobeats, street pop, Afro-fusion, and Nigerian hip-hop. Coming from an extended family in Ikorodu, Abanny is the third of five children. His passion for music began in Ajegunle, where he was part of a band and cultural dance ensemble during his primary school years. He later moved to Ikorodu, where he completed his secondary education. Inspired by Nigerian rap legend Olamide, Abanny initially pursued a career in rap. However, he soon realized the importance of versatility in the evolving Nigerian music scene. He transitioned from strictly rapping to incorporating Afrobeats elements into his music, a decision that has proven to be a turning point in his career.
